Application of Superresolution Algorithm to Optical Coherent Imaging

چکیده
The Super-SVA algorithm has been shown effective for improving the resolution of microwave synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) In this paper we review the Super-SVA algorithm and demonstrate its application to optical imaging systems using coherent laser illumination. Examples of such imaging systems include heterodyne-array imaging, holographic laser radar, laser syntheticaperture radar, coherent phase retrieval from pupil-plane intensities, and SCIP (sheared-beam imaging). We consider the case of a bright object on a dark background. We show the difference in performance for different features of the image --prominent points versus extended, diffuse areas. Superresolution versus Motion Compensation-Based Techniques for Radar Imaging Defense Applications
Radar imaging of noncooperative targets is an interesting application of all-weather high-resolution coherent radars. However, these images are usually blurred when using the standard range-Doppler algorithm, if a long coherent processing interval (CPI) is used, and motion compensation techniques are hence necessary to improve imaging quality. If the CPI is reduced enough, target scatterers do ...
متن کاملCoherent superresolution imaging via grating-based illumination
This paper describes two superresolution coherent imaging techniques, which both use a diffraction grating to direct high spatial frequency information that would otherwise be lost through the imaging system pupil. The techniques employ digital holography to measure the optical field in the image plane and rely on capturing multiple holograms with the illumination condition altered between expo...
متن کاملQuantum Fluctuations in Superresolving Microscopy with Squeezed Light
We numerically investigate the role of quantum fluctuations in superresolution of optical objects. First, we confirm that when quantum fluctuations are not taken into account, one can easily improve the resolution by one order of magnitude beyond the diffraction limit. Then we investigate the standard quantum limit of superresolution which is achieved for illumination of an object by a light wa...
متن کاملAccurate Construction of Photoactivated Localization Microscopy (PALM) Images for Quantitative Measurements
Localization-based superresolution microscopy techniques such as Photoactivated Localization Microscopy (PALM) and Stochastic Optical Reconstruction Microscopy (STORM) have allowed investigations of cellular structures with unprecedented optical resolutions. One major obstacle to interpreting superresolution images, however, is the overcounting of molecule numbers caused by fluorophore photobli...
متن کاملSuperresolution of three-dimensional optical imaging by use of evanescent waves.
We simulate a three-dimensional optical diffraction tomography experiment in which superresolution is achieved by illuminating the object with evanescent waves generated by a prism. We show that accounting for multiple scattering between the object and the prism interface is mandatory to obtain superresolved images. Because the Born approximation leads to poor results, we propose a nonlinear in...
